Under the dedicated care of Mga Kaibigan ni San Pedro Calungsod, the devotion to our beloved young saint is nurtured through four pilgrim images across the Philippines. These include the Original in Bongabon, Nueva Ecija, the Official Replica in Jaen, Nueva Ecija, the Devotional image in Brgy. Sampalucan, Bongabon, another Replica in Arayat, Pampanga, and there's more upcoming image for Bulacan and Cabanatuan. These images journey to different communities, chapels, and parishes, promoting, propagating, and preserving devotion to the second Filipino saint. Through these pilgrimages, the faithful are inspired to reflect on Saint Pedro Calungsod’s courage, faith, and missionary spirit, with the hope that this devotion will continue to grow nationwide.

San Pedro Calungsod, Ang Ikalawang Pilipinong Santo

Si San Pedro Calungsod ay isang batang Pilipino na naging martir sa Guam noong 1672. Ipinanganak siya noong 1654 sa Visayas, partikular sa Ginatilan, Cebu. Siya ay sumama sa mga Heswitang pari sa kanilang misyon sa Marianas Islands upang ipalaganap ang Kristiyanismo sa mga katutubong Chamorro. Naging katulong siya ni Padre Diego Luis de San Vitores sa pagtuturo ng katesismo at pagbibinyag sa mga katutubo at aktibong nakilahok siya sa mga gawain ng simbahan, tulad ng pag-awit, pag-arte, at pagkakarpintero ngungit noong Abril 2, 1672, siya at Padre Diego ay inatake nina Matapang at Hirao habang nasa Tumhon, Guam, nakailag siya sa mga unang sibat, pero sa huli ay tinamaan siya sa dibdib at namatay nang tamaan ng itak sa ulo. Tinanghal siyang beato ni Papa Juan Pablo II noong Marso 5, 2000 at noong Oktubre 21, 2012, siya ay idineklara bilang santo ni Papa Benedicto XVI, Siya ang ikalawang Pilipinong santo sumunod kay San Lorenzo Ruiz ang Unang Filipinong Santo.

Born in 1654 in Ginatilan, Cebu, Philippines, Pedro's life was marked by an unshakeable commitment to spreading the Gospel. 𝐄𝐚𝐫𝐥𝐲 𝐋𝐢𝐟𝐞 𝐚𝐧𝐝 𝐌𝐢𝐬𝐬𝐢𝐨𝐧 At 13, Pedro joined the Jesuit mission as a catechist, traveling with Spanish missionaries to distant islands. He taught catechism, baptized converts, and assisted in Mass celebrations. His passion for sharing the Good News was palpable, and his youthful energy inspired many. 𝐌𝐚𝐫𝐭𝐲𝐫𝐝𝐨𝐦 𝐚𝐧𝐝 𝐋𝐞𝐠𝐚𝐜𝐲 On April 2, 1672, Pedro's life was cut short on the island of Guam. Alongside Fr. Diego Luis de San Vitores, he was brutally killed by Chamorro warriors resistant to Spanish colonization.
